Sabarimala: KP Sasikala, a Hindu Aikya Vedi leader, reached Sabarimala temple top here on Monday for her grandson's 'Choroottu' (a rice feeding ceremony). She was allowed to visit the shrine as she assured she would return after ‘darshan’.

HAV president and right-wing leader was taken into preventive custody on Saturday after she defied police orders by refusing to leave Pamba without visiting the temple. She protested for 5 hours demanding entry into the shrine.

Sabarimala temple in-charge, SP Yatish Chandra, granted her permission on the grounds of various conditions:

#Not to organise group prayers or block other devotees visiting the temple.

#Not to organise any protest in the temple.

#To return within 6 hours and comply with the instructions of officers at the Sannidhanam.

The orders were written in a notice which was signed by HAV leader Sasikala at Nilakkal.

It is to be mentioned that many Hindu groups have been protesting in the temple town since September 28, against Supreme Court's verdict to allow women of all ages to enter the temple that banned girls and women aged between 10 and 50 for ages to enter temple devoted to celibate lord Ayyappa.

However, Sasikala also approached police telling them that she wanted to visit the temple as she was a devotee and was above 50 years of age. But police suspected that she wanted to be near the temple only to organise protests.

Sasikala had been organising protests against the verdict of Supreme Court on women's entry and even checking documents of women who visit the temple.

The Sabarimala temple had opened on Nov 17 for the third time in a month for the two-months.
